What is a CSA?
CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture, which is a system that effectively brings local farmers and you together establishing a direct connection that moves fresh produce directly from the farm to the people who enjoy it. This partnership fosters a sense of community, as it allows you to support local agriculture while receiving seasonal products that are harvested at peak freshness.
In this model, you pay the farmer at the very beginning of the season, which assists in covering the essential up-front costs of seeds and other crucial growing supplies. In return, we provide you with a varied selection of the fresh vegetables and fruit throughout a set number of weeks during the course of the growing season.
What will be in my harvest box?
Your harvest box will vary from week to week. An example harvest box at the beginning of the season MAY include a combination of items such as kale, lettuce, spinach, strawberries, carrots, beets, turnips, herbs, radish or cucumbers. As the season continues items listed above may be removed and replaced with items such as slicing tomatoes, summer squash, peppers, jalapenos, cantaloupe, blackberries, garlic, potatoes and etc. Each box is dependent upon the season and what is available.
We hope to fill each box with at least one new product every week as well as highlight an item in your box in the weekly newsletter. An example may be highlighting carrots or peppers and providing information about the product as well as user friendly recipes to try.
Why should I participate in a CSA?
There are many reasons to join a CSA, but our favorite is getting to know you. Meeting with our customers and forming a relationship with your farmer, food and community while supporting local business is pretty great.
Enjoying fresh local produce, there is honestly nothing better. We harvest the majority of our produce within 24-48 hours of delivery, ensuring that your produce is packed with nutrients.
A CSA also gives you the opportunity to try new foods. You might find something new that you love that you wouldn’t have tried otherwise.
Have you ever been to a farmers market and everything seems pretty picked over? Are you unable to make the opening bell, but wish you could still have the opportunity to have the first choice? A CSA makes this possible. No more anxiety trying to rush to the market only to be disappointed that the freshest and most popular items are gone.
